South Asia saw significant political and geopolitical events in April. India held two of the seven phases of the election the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to win. Mohamed Muizzu’s party won a supermajority in the parliamentary elections, where his party ran on an ‘India Out’ platform. Pakistan reached out to its neighbor Iran and Saudi Arabia. Xi toured Europe, where he highlighted Beijing’s commitment to strengthening ties.
