July 2024 started with a change in government in Nepal and bookended massive popular protests in Bangladesh that toppled the Sheikh Hasina-led government (in early August 2024). In between, Pakistan approached the IMF for another round of bailout; the Communist Party of China hosted the third Plenum; Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia; and Sri Lanka finalized debt restructuring with the Exim Bank of China.
